TEP was commissioned by Babtie on behalf of the East Midlands Development Agency to provide landscape and ecological services as part of a 10 year remediation programme for the former coking works.
TEP prepared a landscape masterplan for the site which included provision for football, cricket, bowling, a community woodland, horse riding, bird watching and pond dipping.
A range of habitats have been designed for great crested newts, grass snakes and water voles affected by the remediation work. The scheme also includes implementation of a multiuser path through the site to facilitate public access.
The scheme was awarded first place in the "Conservation of Restoration Sites" category in the BTO Business Challenge 2006.
