Phase 1 Habitat and Hedgerow Surveys were carried out on the edge of the well-known racetrack in order to provide the necessary information for a potential leisure/hotel development. The Hedgerow Survey focussed on hedgerows that were identified as being species-rich during the Phase 1 Habitat survey. These were assessed against criteria set out in the Hedgerow Regulations 1997 to determine their ‘importance’ ecologically. One of the species-rich hedges was found to meet these criteria and therefore highlighted in the report.
