Habitat and Species Ecology Services - Knotweed Control

Japanese Knotweed Control

TEP undertakes surveys, provides advice and supervises control measures for Japanese knotweed for a wide variety of clients.

Examples include Sefton Coast Sand Dunes where Japanese knotweed was mapped using GPS equipment as part of a larger vegetation survey of the Sefton Coast. The information provided in GIS format will enable the client, Sefton Council, to assess Japanese knotweed populations along the coast and to monitor and control the infestations.

Housing developers, such as Wimpey Homes and Redrow Homes, also regularly commission TEP to provide site-specific treatment programmes for knotweed on a range of development sites within the northwest area. Contractors, under the supervision of TEP ecologists as necessary, carry out treatment programmes. TEP ecologists return to site to monitor the response of knotweed to the advised treatment regimes.
