Relating directly to the ‘Managing the Environment’ theme of the NW Sustainable Farming and Food Delivery Plan, this project explored how the Public Benefit Recording System could be used as a strategic planning and investment tool.

Focusing on Lancashire (the Northwest’s rural pathfinder), the study addressed two key themes:

This gave a better understanding of where investment and intervention in the natural environment and landscape can potentially deliver the greatest range and depth of social, economic and environmental public benefits.
