Land and Risk Management at Omega, Warrington

The OMEGA site in Warrington was formerly a WWII airbase and one of the largest brownfield sites in Europe. Undeveloped areas of the site under ownership of the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) are currently managed as part of TEP’s Land and Risk Management consultancy with HCA. TEP have been involved in the management of the OMEGA site in Warrington since the early 1990’s.

Since TEP’s early involvement, OMEGA has changed dramatically, and has become a hub for businesses along the M62 with numerous warehouses and distribution centres. When completed OMEGA will provide 1100 new affordable homes, complete with shopping and leisure facilities, a school, and a 35 acre ‘Green Heart’ park is to be open for use by the wider community.

In addition to routine water safety, use and access, arboriculture, invasive species, and health and safety surveys, TEP have also carried out numerous ecology surveys. TEP also provides contract administration on landscape maintenance contracts, and identify, recommend and instruct remedial works.

To facilitate the appropriate management of the changing landscape at OMEGA, TEP utilise a suite of bespoke software and GPS enabled field equipment. These allow land managers and surveyors to accurately and consistently record potential hazards, assess levels of risk, and implement appropriate control measures as OMEGA moves towards a new chapter in its history.
