We are delighted that Cambridge Investment Partnership’s planning application for 50 affordable homes was approved at Planning Committee this week. The development will see the creation of new homes and a community centre on Phase 2 of the former Mill Road Council Depot on the edge of the Mill Road conservation area in central Cambridge.
TEP worked with Allies and Morrison architects on this tight urban site, constrained by the main line railway, Mill Road overbridge and a group of mature Trees of Heaven. The landscape design comprises a courtyard garden for residents with a rain garden and permeable paving, plenty of secure and covered cycle storage, direct links to the Chisholm Trail and a courtyard for the community centre with distinctive paving and feature trees.
The illustration below is a cross section through the residents’ courtyard garden.
