CALA Homes has been awarded planning consent for a new housing development on a brownfield site in Wolvercote, Oxford. TEP is part of the design team which will help CALA Homes successfully deliver 190 new homes on this former Paper Mill site close to the river Thames and adjacent to the Wolvercote Conservation Area. The mill stream and reservoir, together with areas of wet woodland and an array of mature trees, will create a unique setting for the new homes.
The landscape and open space proposals prepared by TEP take advantage of the waterside location with the creation of a riverside park, a nature reserve and a waterside promenade. The promenade will be accessed directly from a new public square which features light canopy trees, within colourful herbaceous planting and bespoke timber block seating. The landscape will add significant value to the development, creating a unique setting to the new homes, increasing the amenity value for residents and enhancing on-site biodiversity. Our landscape designers worked closely with our arboricultural team who prepared a comprehensive tree survey to BS5837:2012 which informed and influenced the masterplan and some of the landscape design features.
