Ridgeons Timber and Builders Merchants, have submitted an Outline Planning Application to deliver up to 245 high quality mixed tenure homes, community use, a large new public open space and a section of a city-wide cycle route.
Working alongside Pollard Thomas Edwards Architects and Carter Jonas, TEP has provided landscape proposals to support the application for the redevelopment of the current Ridgeon’s site on Cromwell Road in Cambridge.
A large central park forms the focus of the development and creates new green open space for the new residents and wider community alike. The design of the park combines recreation space with sustainable urban drainage solutions to maximize the potential for this new urban green space. The design integrates surface water drainage through the use of rainwater gardens, swales and flood-able land-formed spaces.
Ian Northen from Ridgeons says “A great deal of work has gone into getting the Outline Planning Application right; we wanted to ensure that the site was able to deliver much-needed quality new homes whilst also being sensitive to the needs of the existing community. We would like to thank everyone who has helped us to understand local opportunities and issues as these have been invaluable in helping us to shape our thinking. Ridgeons is committed to leaving a positive legacy of development on the Cromwell Road site and we are confident that this application, if approved, will help us to deliver this.”
