As a national environmental consultancy, TEP is in a privileged situation as our daily work helps us to further sustainability by creating special places for people, business and wildlife. It is in our nature to strive to be the best in our field and lead by example, which isn’t just limited to the work we do for our clients. It also extends to how we act and perform as individuals and as a business. Our corporate social responsibilities are rooted at the heart of our business because we understand that to lead by example, our responsibilities towards the environment and where we live cannot come second.
Our positive attitude to giving means that all TEP employees are encouraged to spend one day a year volunteering during company time on a local project. In the last few years, we have supported projects at RHS Bridgewater, the House for a Grouse project in The Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and piecing together missing maps for the Red Cross.
In addition to volunteering, TEP gives skills and expertise freely to some projects and activities. For example, we give professional advice to charities, support schemes that require assessment (such as Green Flag Awards) and some of our senior staff are visiting lecturers at local colleges and universities. We also offer Environment Grants to help fund environmental projects or environmental learning.
This year we are also supporting the Madre de Dios project in Peru. In the Vilcabamba-Amboro conservation corridor, an inter-oceanic road between Brazil and Peru is being built. The project aims to protect the surrounding tropical rainforest from construction by establishing sustainable forest management practices. This will save precious habitat relied upon by endangered species and tribal communities.
We are proud of the contribution that we make to local and global communities; through hard work and quite a bit of fun, we will continue to make a difference.
