Introduction to TEP Green-Blue Infrastructure Service Offering

Tom Young Blue-Green Infrastructure

TEP has two decades of experience in sustainable design and development in urban and rural settings. We are delighted to announce that Dr Tom Young has joined us as a Green and Blue Infrastructure Specialist.

Tom has extensive experience working in the environmental research and consultancy sector, with particular experience in green roofs, sustainable product development and design, smart green-blue infrastructure, growing media testing and development and sustainable water management strategies. Bringing Tom on board to complement our existing strengths in sustainable landscape design, ecology and landscape management formalises our green-blue infrastructure offering.

Tom’s knowledge and experience enables TEP to provide support to:

  • British Standard Committees – in particular BS8640 – design of tree pits
  • GRO (the UK’s Green Roof Organisation) – TEP is the first Landscape Architect Associate member and Tom Young is a member of the GRO Board
  • The project support group for CIRIA Blue Roof Guide.

TEP now offers the following services:

    1. Building with Nature (BwN) Accreditation Assessments with particular skills in the integration of drainage schemes with ecological and landscape enhancements:

      – Initial scheme overview assessment designed to quickly appraise design and offer guidance to improve BwN compatibility
      – Full scheme assessments (and assistance during design process)
      – Green Infrastructure Policy Assessments.

    2. Integrated blue and green infrastructure designs with specific focus on provision of multiple ecosystem services (healthcare, urban cooling, biodiversity, water quality and quantity).
