Liverpool City Council is asking existing community groups to be considered for the development of two demonstration projects as part of Greening the City.
We are looking for community-managed greening projects on underused land. This is a new pilot initiative where community groups can apply to get money and advice to turn underused land into attractive and productive areas where communities can learn new skills, increase their physical activity and meet new people.
We are currently assessing applications and the selection process will identify a minimum of two projects to go forward, with grants of up to £20,000 each to tackle green initiatives and environmental issues within local neighbourhoods. The selected projects will start in June 2010 and capital works must be finished by March 2011.
