Whittingham Hospital

Whittingham Hospital in Preston is being transformed into a residential community with green infrastructure and public open space. The site’s mature tree cover has been a key consideration throughout planning and construction, ensuring biodiversity and canopy retention are integrated into the redevelopment.

We have supported the project over several years, providing arboricultural expertise from initial surveys through to construction. This included BS5837 tree surveys, arboricultural impact assessments, and detailed method statements to support planning applications, design decisions, and on-site works.

Regular tree risk inspections were carried out to manage public safety and reduce liability during construction. In parallel, we produced woodland management and works plans to guide long-term habitat management, access improvements, and future canopy enhancement.

Our input has enabled the client to meet planning conditions, manage construction risks effectively, and ensure that the site’s tree and woodland assets are integrated into a sustainable and resilient landscape for the new community.
