Straws Hadley Solar Farm

Our planners coordinated and managed a team of in-house landscape architects, arborists, historic environment consultants and ecologists. We managed sub-consultants for transport, agricultural land, ground conditions, noise, flood risk and drainage assessments and glint and glare.

We prepared an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Screening Request setting out clear justification as to why an EIA would not be required for the proposals.

In the Planning, Design and Access Statement we analysed planning policy, and demonstrated that any limited conflicts were outweighed by the benefits of renewable energy. We also prepared a Sequential Test and Statement of Community Involvement.

Landscape and heritage were key constraints that needed to be considered. Our landscape and heritage specialists prepared robust assessments to demonstrate that there would be no adverse impacts.

We reviewed all supporting technical documents to ensure they were of a high standard. The planning application forms and relevant notices and certificates were completed to ensure a legally robust application.

During the determination period, we monitored the application and liaised with the local planning authority to address comments received by statutory consultees. Draft conditions were reviewed to ensure these were consistent with the proposals and consultation responses, and did not over commit the client to any excessive mitigation and additional work.

The application was approved by delegated decision, securing a significant step toward delivering low-carbon energy.
